Visiting Nepal is a dream for many, with its majestic snow-capped mountains, rich cultural heritage, and the warmth of the Himalayan people. My mission is to share not just the practice of Ashtanga Yoga but also the spiritual and cultural richness of this incredible country. After living in Kathmandu’s Tibetan community for a decade, studying Buddhist philosophy and Himalayan languages, I’ve gained deep insights into the local culture. I speak Tibetan, allowing me to connect with the Tibetan expats and communities in Nepal.
Practicing Ashtanga yoga in Nepal
During my retreats, I’ll guide you to my favorite places in and beyond the Kathmandu Valley, offering an authentic introduction to Nepal’s sacred and cultural wonders. This is the true land of yogis, a melting pot of diverse cultures and spiritual practices. Nepal, with its history of great spiritual adepts and scattered meditation caves and shrines, is the perfect setting for a transformative journey in Ashtanga Yoga.
Why do a trek / retreat with me?
I’ve spent over ten years in Nepal, studying religion and Himalayan languages at Kathmandu University, and this land has become my spiritual home. Through exclusive treks and tours to sacred places, I’ll help you connect deeply with the people and culture, making your experience in Nepal truly meaningful.
I had a brilliant experience on Ellen’s Nepal expedition in October 2023. She was a wonderful and welcoming host with excellent knowledge of Nepal and Buddhism which added to the overall experience. The trek itself was well organised and featured less well-trodden paths as part of the itinerary which added to the voyage of discovery…

Thanks again for the super guidance on the trekking and ashtanga-yoga retreat in Mustang, Nepal (20-30 March 2024). Your dedication to yoga and wisdom in Tibetan Buddhism together with your great passion for the Nepalese mountains resulted in giving us, simple souls, an unforgettable experience. A life-changing experience for me. Thanks a lot, Ellen.
This year’s trekking and retreat was my third with you in Nepal. I found in you the embodiment/combination of Ashtanga yoga and Tibetan Buddhism. If my current “physical construction” allows, I will join you again for your humble way of teaching and your respect of both these traditions, Ashtanga and Tibetan Buddhism. Thanks again.
