A thoughtfully designed, client centered retreat program. High quality, inclusive and supportive yoga practice.

As part of our programme, we will:
-­‐ Provide rooms with spacious attached bathrooms, with spectacular views of the sea.
-­‐ Provide morning yoga practice and evening meditation daily.
-­‐ Yoga mats, props and other resources for your practice.
-­‐ Offer additional afternoon workshops to support your yoga practice or introduce new learning.
-­‐ Give you lots of time to relax by the pool or the sea and to experience the local culture, sights and activities such as surfing, diving and safari.
-­‐ Provide 2 fresh, locally sourced meals a day ( breakfast and dinner), with lighter additional options for lunch.
-­‐ Arrange airport/Colombo transfer.
-­‐ Provide friendly villa staff and yoga intern, who will always be at hand to make sure that you enjoy your stay and feel at home. They will be happy to support with local transport, purchasing provisions locally, arranging day trips and any other needs.
 


On The Mat: Ellen Johannesen, born in Norway and a yoga teacher for more than 17 years, took up yoga during her a career as a professional dancer.She first encountered Ashtanga yoga during a tour to New York in 1994, and has practiced ever since. She utilizes her in depth knowledge of body and mind to teach yoga adapted to any level of practitioner. She is an KPJAYI authorized level 2 Ashtanga yoga teacher and she also holds a teacher training certificate from John Scott. In 2002 she co-­‐founded the first Ashtanga studio In Oslo, Norway, Ashtanga Yoga Oslo where she was the principal teacher in charge of the Mysore program. A growing interest in Buddhism brought her first to Bylakuppe, South India, where she spent about three years living in a Tibetan Monastery. She then moved to Kathmandu where she, after completing a Tibetan translator training course, earned a degree in Buddhist studies and Himalayan Languages from Kathmandu university. She currently works as as a yoga teacher for Pranamaya Yoga, Kathmandu.

Week 2 (1‐7 Feb) ‘Transform’
Morning Astanga Mysore Practice, Every Afternoon a workshop on yoga, Buddhism and the Science of Happiness.

Week 1 (24 - 31 Jan)  'Balance'
Morning Ashtanga Mysore Practice, Three afternoons of Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

Off the Mat:
The surrounding area invites you to indulge in long walks along the beautiful beech, surf, swim, stand up paddle board or explore village life and ancient Buddhist Temples nearby. The city of Galle is less than an hour away by road. There are many tourist attractions in the south of Sri Lanka within easy access of Villa Ratnakara including the famous Thalaramba Reef and Mirissa Hill cinnamon plantation. Staff will support you to arrange a Safari Trip at Yala National Park, Whale watching trips and much more.

Cancelation/Refund Policy:
The deposit is non-­‐refundable. The full balance is due 8 weeks ahead of the retreat start date.
In case of cancellation 8 weeks ahead of the start date, a refund of monies paid will be given, excluding deposit.
In case of cancellation within 8 weeks of the retreat start date, a refund of monies paid, excluding deposit, will be provided if and only if only if we can fill your space. If your space cannot be filled, no refund will be given.
